CHARITY PROJECT - NONG KAE VILLAGE, SARA BURI

The death toll of the recent floods in Thailand has reached 101, with more than 5 million people adversely affected in some way.

Thailand
’s Public Health Minister, Jurin Laksanavisit has announced that the bodies of 90 people were discovered while authorities were searching for 11 people who were known to be missing at the time.

Saraburi, which is one of six provinces in central Thailand, has also been affected, with many people saying they never seen flooding of this scale ever. Here, among the four people who are known to have died, a 59-year-old woman was drowned after the boat she was in capsized.

Tambon Nong Kae, where I was born, is a small village in Saraburi province which literally means “Water City”, with 104 families (approximately 300 people). Here, almost all the local people work as rice farmers. There are no schools or public health centres, but its local temple, Wat Nong Kae, is the spiritual centre for the villagers.

Tambon Nong Kae, is located 150 km North of Bangkok. It is also 10 km from the famous Phraputthabat Temple, which enshrines the Lord Buddha’s footprint.

Following an idea by Mr. Raymond from Switzerland, and with the kind assistance of my friends and valued customers, we are delighted to organize a fundraising charity to help the flood victims of Nong Kae Village, Saraburi.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the following people who have already kindly donated to this cause:
