Ayutthaya, the former ancient capital of Siam, is well known to tourists because of its numerous beautiful temples which are characterized by the prang towers.  In 1991, UNESCO listed Ayutthaya as a World Heritage Site.




Ayutthaya or Ayothaya, which literally means the "unbeatable city", was built by King Ramathibodi I or King U-Tong in 1350 and was ruled by 33 kings  [5 dynasties ] and finally was defeated by the Burmanese invasion in 1767.

After visiting Ayutthaya, you will also visit a new Ayothaya Floating Market on the same day.


This private tour to Ayutthaya allows you to travel back into Thailand’s great history to earn about its past splendour and to learn about our Thai culture and traditions.


General Itinerary 

You will depart Bangkok at 9 a.m. After a one hour drive north, we will arrive at Bang Pa-In Summer Palace and stroll around Thai, Asian and European influenced buildings set in a well-maintained garden before visiting the huge 19 meter high sitting Buddha image that belongs to U-Tong School ( 13th century ) at Wat Phrananchoeng. Many Thais prefer to feed bread to local big catfish at the river next to the temple. Then we will continue to Wat Chaiwattanaram, a well known Buddhist temple influenced by the Khmer style.  Lunch will be at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will continue to Wat Mahathat where you will see a famous sand stone image of Buddha’s head which was inbedded in the holy Pho Tree, and later to Wat Yai Chaimongkol; a monument Chedi was built by King Naresuan signifying the victory over the Burmanese in 1593. The victory was accomplished on the backs of elephants.

We will finalise our amazing day at Ayothaya Floating Market. A large complex comprised of Thai houses on stilts, a wide range of hand-made souvenirs and local Thai foods. You will have a chance to see a way of local life style and the neighboring elephant village. This market opens daily from 10 am – 9 pm. and is crowed by Thai tourists on weekends. Performances are held three times a day on weekdays at noon, 5pm and 7pm, and four times a day on weekends, at 11am, 2pm, 5pm and 7pm. Depending on which performance you choose to attend, you should be back to your hotel around 6 pm in the evening.
